Bio: Originally from Idaho, Morgan has lived in Utah, Tennessee, California, and now her family resides in Connecticut. Morgan came from a theatrical family, and so naturally she wanted to be a Veterinarian.  Unfortunately, science was not her strong-suit, so after high school Morgan attended The Juilliard School in New York City where she received her BM in Voice.

Morgan comes to "Godspell" directly from the Original Broadway Casts of Frank Wildhorn's "Wonderland" (where she covered, and closed the Broadway cast playing, Alice), and "The Addams Family", starring Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth.  Most recently she was seen as Sarah Brown in "Guys and Dolls" at Barrington Stage Company, directed by Tony Award winner, John Rando.  As a solo artist, she has played to sold-out audiences throughout New York City with her seven-piece band, and is working on an album.  Recently she starred  in "The Rock Tenor" with Broadway's Rob Evan.  Morgan was a featured soloist in Bernstein's "Mass" with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, performing at Carnegie Hall and The Kennedy Center, and can be heard on their Grammy nominated recording (Naxos).  Her regional and concert credits include Arizona Theatre Company, Kansas City Repertory Theatre., Barrington Stage Company ("The Human Comedy"), Paper Mill Playhouse, Eugene O'Neill Theatre Conference, The Wilma Theatre, Two River Theatre Co.  In addition to her theatrical career, Morgan can be seen and heard in numerous commercials, voice-overs, and recordings, including the original cast recordings of "Wonderland" and "The Addams Family", and featured on "(Sorta) Love Songs", Paul Loesel and Scott Burkell; "Chasing the Day",  music of Will Van Dyke; and "What I Wanna Be When I Grow Up", the music of Scott Alan, (among others).  Morgan trained at The Juilliard School, and is a proud member of Actor's Equity Association and the Screen Actors' Guild.  Love and thanks to JSH, Fam, Ted, David, and DBA.   For updates, information and clips, please visit www.morganjames.org.

Hometown:
Modesto, California (but i was born in Boise, Idaho!)

Song You Sang at Your Godspell Audition:

What song didn't i sing??  I sang "Think" initially, then came back and sang "Bless The Lord", "Day By Day" and "Turn Back O Man" for the team

Something You Can Do That Others Can’t:

I have an excellent ear for learning/writing music and arranging, and I can write harmonies pretty instantaneously.  I also do impressions!

First Broadway Show You Ever Saw:

"Ragtime"

Words of Wisdom for Aspiring Performers:

Be patient!  The hardest thing about this business is waiting.  But while you wait, LEARN.  Never stop taking classes and lessons, and never underestimate what you could learn from a fellow actor or director or designer.  Your career IS your classroom.

Why you love Godspell:

I love the freedom to play!  Not only does it have an amazing score of hits, but it gives the cast a chance to feel freedom and joy and childlike fun... and hopefully the audience feels that, too :)
