February Literary Guild: The Fred Factor

By March 3, 2011No Comments

We’re constantly looking to broaden our horizons and find inspiration in life and in our work. One of the ways OneSpringers do this is through reading. A few months ago we began the “OneSpring Literary Guild” as a way to formally come together to discuss books relevant to our business and careers.

The Fred Factor by Mark SanbornThis month’s book was “The Fred Factor” by Mark Sanborn

It’s a nice, quick, inspirational read. It tells the story of Fred, a United States postal worker who goes way above and beyond expectations. He loves his job and enjoys delighting his customers. He is genuinely interested in the lives of his customers, listens to their needs, and responds accordingly. It discusses how you can become “a Fred” and how to inspire others.

This book hits close to home as one of our core values is “Delight: We go to great lengths to create a truly memorable experience and exceed expectations at every opportunity. Software definition is better when it is exciting and fun.”

We always have a lively discussion around books and The Fred Factor was no exception. We talked about ways we are already “a Fred” with our clients, and ways that we could improve. The discussion flowed from recent “Fred” encounters to how we can help ensure we only hire “Freds”.

We highly recommend this book!
